1. Bloomfield House

Architect: FGR Architects, Location: Ascot Vale, Victoria, Australia

From the architect: "Creating effective outdoor spaces was just as important as indoor for this home. Despite the volume, the home breathes effectively with strong airflow that penetrates from the front to the back. Today, the family enjoys living in the space – we’ve seen a physical change in their lifestyle and wellbeing since moving in. A novelty cubby house at the back also provides endless fun for children of the house."

3. Los Altos New Residence

Architect: Klopf Architecture, Location: Los Altos, California

From the architect: "The bedrooms, bathrooms, play room and the sitting room are under flat wing-like roofs that balance on either side of the low sloping gable roof of the main space. Large sliding glass panels and pocketing glass doors foster openness to the front and back yards. In the front there is a fenced-in play space connected to the play room, creating an indoor-outdoor play space that could change in use over the years. The play room can also be closed off from the great room with a large pocketing door. In the rear, everything opens up to a deck overlooking a pool where the family can come together outdoors."

5. The Made Shop

Homeowners: Marke and Kim Johnson, Location: Denver, Colorado

From the project uploader: "Marke and Kim Johnson started their design business The Made Shop in their back yard with a love for hands-on, material-driven projects. Three daughters, a couple employees, and many years later, they've outgrown the garage and hired Kim's brother to build their home and business at the crest of one of Denver's most bustling streets in the Highlands. A creative couple whose ideas spill over into all that they do, they've built a refined personal nod to their garage days."
